Almost everybody of us has to move at least once in their life and has to keep some belongings in public storage. We prepared some storage tips that we got though our experience and we hope that those tips will help you one day.
Before placing your belongings to storage room, start in time to plan, do not rush when you move or pack.
During the planning phase of your packing and storing, think about the kinds of items and amount of space you will need.
Do not load too much weight into one box. Use bubble wrap for delicate items or wrap paper around each item several times.
In boxing up belongings, it is best to tape up the open seems of the box to prevent dust, bugs, and other things from getting into the box while in storage.
When your boxing your belongings, remember to clearly label what is in the box. The labeling on the box should be done on the top and sides of the box to prevent confusion when searching through your storage.
If you use boxes to help organize and store your valuables, fill all boxes completely since half full boxes tend to collapse more easily which could cause damage to your possessions.

Place plastic sheets on the floor of your storage unit before storing your items.
Do not pack items against the wall; it blocks ventilation. Always leave small amount of space between the walls of your unit and stored items.
Before placing any kind of wooden furniture into public self storage, wax it. It will prevent furniture from moisture. Protect furniture with plastic cover in the storage.
Break down the furniture that has removable legs it will help you to have more space in your storage.
When adding furniture such as cabinets or dressers to your storage space, it is best to empty it out first and then refill them with boxes or other items to maximize your available space.
Place items that you frequently use (usually documents, files, and clothes) near the door; so you can reach them very quickly.
Clothes and curtains should be stored on hangers.
Refrigerator or freezer should be thoroughly dry and stored with its door slightly ajar.
Use your cupboards, refrigerators, china cabinets to store things like books, towels, DVDs, files etc.

Do not put your books on the floor they can be damaged by moisture.
Do not lean items against the wall.
Mirrors, Windows, and screens should be stored on edge, not flat.
While storing mirrors and windows use towels or other materials to create a protective surface in case objects shift or rub against the items while in storage.
Keep the heaviest items on the bottom; the lightest on the top.
Use a stool or a step ladder to reach high items or when stacking the boxes.
Do not store items such as flammable items, liquids, and perishable goods in storage units or attics.
